“Seres Queridos” is an international art project that aims to create a bridge between the residents of a certain neighbourhood in a city and their urban environment. Organized by ARTO – Beyond Art Museums (Mexico) and NOBULO – Arts and Culture Projects (Spain).
“Seres Queridos” recognized the value of the city, not only for its history, its monuments and iconic buildings, but also for those who live there. The stories of the loved ones gave the streets of the city a new sparkle of life and made them a living space with unique identity.
The project was based on active community participation. People from the neighbourhood chose and appointed the loved ones of their own community: unknown, anonymous loved by all. These anonymous people became important by emotions. Loved ones became great. The murals reflect the soul and acts of such persons. The works reflect new values for new heroes.
From April 26 to May 6th, artists Atma (France), El Mac (USA), El Niño de las Pinturas (Spain) and Jorge Rodríguez (Spain) performed giant pieces of art using Monterrey walls as a canvas.
